How To Pack Boxes When Moving House

One of the questions that most of our Geelong clients like to ask us, is how they pack their boxes. The first thing that we point out, is that boxes should not be too heavy. They will become more difficult to handle both for you and for us. Often it is better to use many boxes instead of very large ones.

How To Pack Boxes When Moving House

It is better to have more boxes than large heavy ones. They are easier to pack and unpack. Once you start packing, you will realise how much everyday household items weigh. Books are heavy and household linen can weigh a lot when put in one box.

To make it easier to unpack your boxes, create a list of what they contain. Then you know what boxes you need to unpack when you arrive at your new home.

Numbering your boxes is another top tip from the team at Geelong removals. When you number your boxes, we know exactly how many boxes we have on our vehicle when it comes to unloading it when we arrive.

How To Pack More Fragile Items

You need to take special care when you pack fragile items. Use plenty of packaging materials such as paper and fabric. Towels are great for packaging household items including glasses and dinner services.

Lights also need to be packed more carefully. If you have a chandlier that you need to pack, it is best to ask us to pack it for you. We have special boxes and crates that will help to keep your more expensive items safe during your house move.

Any boxes that contain fragile items, should be clearly marked. We will make sure that we place them in a special part on our vehicles.

How To Pack Rugs And Carpets

Rugs and carpets can’t be packed in boxes unless they are very small. It is best to pack them separately. We believe that you should look after them. Wrap them up in suitable covers to keep them clean and dust-free while they are being moved and transported.

Household knick knacks should be packed separately. Protect fragile pieces with fabric or paper. If you run out of packaging materials, all you have to do is to give the Geelong removalist team a call. We are happy to give advice and even help you to pack up your home. Sometimes, it is not always cost-effective to do your own packing when it comes to moving house.

If you need a removalist, get these guys. We have way too much stuff, but Tom and Cam smashed it out so quickly – and with a smile on their face the whole time. Great service, fair price, and no issues.
