How To Pack Close When Moving House

Even if you are just moving house in the Geelong area, there is no reason you should not pack your clothes properly. Unfortunately, despite our advice, many still think of their clothes as something less than essential. But, you should take care of your clothes and make sure you pack them properly. Also, One of the most important things to do when moving your home to a new location within Geelong is disconnecting power in your current home and reconnecting utilities in your new home.

Moving House: How To Pack Your Clothes

For some reason or another, how you pack your clothes when you move house has always been a controversial subject. We have seen clothes packed in plastic bags and hanging out of rubbish bags. The best thing to do is to pack EVERYTHING properly.

Our first bit of advice is to label any boxes or suitcases that you use. In that way, you will know exactly where to find an item of clothing. You will also know to what family member the clothes belong to. If we know where they belong, we can place them in the appropriate room in your new house.

Clothes that you need for work, or everyday life, are best packed in suitcases. That will help to keep them nice and neat.

Any out of season clothes are best packed in boxes. Mark the box “clothes” and write a list of what is in the box. That way you can be sure that you have packed all of your favorite clothes.

Packaging Children’s Clothes

Yes, it is tempting to do all of the packaging yourself. But, kids like to get involved. A great way to get younger kids involved in the house move, is to get them to pack their own clothes. They will love it and think that it is a fun activity. It is the sort of thing that will keep them busy for hours when you get into your new house.

Teenagers should also pack their own clothes. However, it is best to check their wardrobe, you never know what teens leave behind.

Specialist Boxes

If you have nice clothes that need to be packed such as gowns and evening suits, let us know. Specialist packaging materials are available that can help to protect more expensive garments.

What About Packing Shoes?

Shoes are best packed separately. Designer shoes should always be packed with care. Footwear can either be packed in boxes or in suitcases. You can buy special shoe bags to protect your shoes when they are in transit. That is something we often advise our clients to do.
