Moving House Process In Geelong – A Quick Checklist

The moving house process in Geelong can be both an exciting and stressful process. Moving may mean new beginnings, new things to explore, and new neighbors. On the downside, the process is also stressful as there are a plethora of things that need your attention. To help you with that, this article should provide you with a quick checklist of the most important factors you should focus on during the moving process.

Checklist #1 – Do You Need Help?

Moving to a new house means that you’ll need to relocate your belongings. For such, you have two options. You can either do it yourself or hire a removalist service. Unless you are really strapped for cash, you should hire a professional removalist service. Moving by itself is already a very stressful process, and you need all the help you can get to make the process as smooth as possible.

Checklist #2 – Packaging Boxes

When moving your belongings, perhaps the best way to transport them is through packaging boxes. Therefore, before you start packing, make sure you have an ample supply of boxes. Additionally, you’ll also need a few rolls of packing tape.

Checklist #3 – To Keep Or To Dispose?

During the packing process, you’ll need to segregate your items into two major categories. The first category is for the belongings you will keep. The second category is for the things you want to dispose of. For such a category, you also can choose whether to donate it, sell it through a yard sale, or just put it in the trash bin.

Checklist #4 – Outstanding Bills

Another critical aspect you need to take care of before moving to your new house is the outstanding bills. This could be electricity, water, gas, or the Internet. Ensure that you notify them that you are moving so they can make the necessary adjustments. If a service cannot accommodate you at your new location, make sure that you pay them off. What you want to avoid is being charged continuously on a service that you are not already using.

Checklist #5 – Utilities

Days before the move, make sure that your new place has the essential utilities. At the very least, water and electricity should be available. The last thing you want is to move to a new place and turns out that electricity or water is not yet connected.

Wrapping It All Up

The checklist mentioned above is far from being comprehensive. However, it should give you an excellent framework to work with. Moving can be a stressful endeavor, and the more you can plan ahead, the smoother the process can be.
